Uglier Than Me

I can find a way to make you ugly.

Uglier than me.

I can find something
With the swing of your hips,
Or your smile
With straight
White teeth.

There’s something about your nose,
Your forehead,
Your fingers, your toes
Your nails, your ears.
Every single body part
Beneath my cold glare.

“You are beautiful my daughter.”
But of course she thought so,
The kids at school didn’t.
The boys at school didn’t.

So you’re not pretty either.
I won’t be the only one.

With every single body part,
I’ll find something wrong.
